The Association of Contingency Planners (ACP) has announced the chartering of the Sioux Empire (South Dakota) Chapter, which will provide business continuity professionals in South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa, and northeast Nebraska the opportunity to network and continue their business continuity education.

"ACP fills a significant need in this region", said Julie Arnold, Sioux Empire Chapter President. "Business Continuity professionals now have a forum to network and learn locally, as opposed to traveling to Omaha or Minneapolis."

Our first meeting was held -- coincidentally -- on September 11, 2003 with 3 people attending. In a year our membership has quadrupled! Why? Because our great members and guests have all contributed towards making the chapter a place where those of us working in emergency management, business continuity, and disaster recovery can learn and network locally.

The Sioux Empire Chapter has won the 2004 Eagle Award for the highest percentage of membership growth in ACP. For the record, the Sioux Empire improved from 2 to 12 members in 2004.
