Linda Hoffman

Graduated from Caldwell College,
Caldwell NJ with a BA in Mathematics.
Earned a certificate of
Telecommunications Management from U of
M in 1989. First job in computers was as
a Sr. Field Engineer with Motorola
Four-Phase, then worked for 13 years as
a Telecommunications Engineer with
Florida Power and Light where I designed
the company’s data network to fit
evolving criteria including DR. I am now
Manager of Systems Control/Disaster
Recovery at Baptist Health South Florida
since 1998 where I manage several
Corporate wide systems including
Disaster Recovery, Change Management,
PBX, Telecomm invoicing and all long
distance services.

Tom Serio
Secretary
|
Tom Serio has over 20 years of overall
experience in business and Information
Technology. Throughout his career, Tom
has focused on disaster recovery
preparedness and business continuity
planning. He has implemented DR
programs at several employers, most
notable Publishers Clearing House,
including utilizing hot-site and
off-site solutions. In the Information
Protection group at Cendant Corp., Tom
headed a team that implemented a BCP
Methodology and DR Framework standard
across all business units in the U.S.
and in Europe. More recently, Tom was
the Director of Disaster Recovery for
Cablevision in New York, where he
developed BCP models for call center
recovery, and supported data replication
of the main business applications. As a
post-911 program, he assisted in the
federal initiative in developing a
recovery model for cable companies
nationwide to ensure television signal
continuity during a disaster. Today, as
Manager of Business Continuity for
Office Depot, Inc., Tom is responsible
for domestic and international BCP
development. He also coordinates Office
Depot’s annual Hazard Fair, which helps
educate employees on disaster
preparedness and recovery.
Tom co-founded and chaired Long Island’s
(NY) first BCP & DR user-group, has been
a frequent speaker on the subject of DR
and BCP and has also hosted several
conferences on the topic. He is a
member of the American Red Cross Greater
Palm Beach Area Chapter Advisory Board
(Vice-Chair, South County), Office Depot
Disaster Relief Foundation Board, Delray
Beach Chamber of Commerce for Office
Depot and member of Rotary International
(Delray Beach Sunrise).

Becky Cohen, Business Continuity Officer at BankAtlantic one of the largest and oldest financial institutions based in Florida. Through its branch network and Internet Banking division, BankAtlantic provides a full range of commercial and individual banking products and services. BankAtlantic has pioneered and developed a very unique ATM market niche in the cruise line industry with Carnival Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean/Celebrity Cruises, as well as gaming casinos located on Native American reservations - this keeps her busy. A certified CBCP, re-elected treasurer for our local chapter and a founding member on the Broward Emergency Planning Network. A/K/A - the Disaster Diva!

Bob Alsan

Bob Alsan
has over 21 years of experience in
Information Technology with an emphasis
on Business Continuity for the Financial
Services Industry. Bob has worked
in the capacity of regional IT director
for Philip Morris International (5
countries), Project Manager for IBM
(U.K.), Information Security Services
Manager
for Ernst & Young LLP (5 years in
New York City and Boston), Founder and
President of Atlas Prime Technologies,
Inc. in Boston. (IT Consulting Firm) and
independent consulting in the Kingdom of
Bahrain, Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
He is
currently the Sr. Global Disaster
Recovery Specialist for
CITCO
(Curaçao International Trust Company), a
60+ year old international financial
institution with over 5000 employees in
46 countries. He was the Director
of Business Continuity for a Private
Bank, overseeing all national banks and
offices. Bob developed and
implemented the Emergency Procedures,
Business Impact Analysis, Business
Continuity Plan, and Testing for all
national offices. The Florida offices
engaged the DR plan and endured 4 direct
hurricane hits in 2004 and 2005 - never
losing network or telephony services at
the Palm Beach HQ and Datacenter. Bob
holds a '93 MBA from Rollins College.
Bob is also a certified CBRM.

Laura Mallet

Laura has been actively involved in
the areas of Information Technology,
Disaster Recovery, and Business
Continuity for over twenty years.
Recently she has been responsible for
Continuity of Operations Planning
(COOP) for several South Florida
jurisdictions; developing plans,
comprehensive programs and detailed
procedures. Ms. Mallet is also
involved in the Southeast region and
Miami Urban Area exercise program and
has been actively involved in exercise
planning, evaluation and after action
report development for numerous local
Emergency Management exercises.
Significant accomplishments in the
contingency planning industry include;
Development and management of a
national data center disaster recovery
program for Universal Music &
Universal Studios North American data
centers. Laura served as President of
the SE Florida Chapter of the
Association of Contingency Planners
for three years and transitioned into
her new ACP role in 2005. She created,
moderated and coordinated the Business
Continuity track for the South Florida
Hurricane Conference during the
2003-2005 timeframe. Laura's business
The Center for Continuity and Recovery
Advice, a member of All Hands
Consulting won the small business
award at the 2003 South Florida
Hurricane Conference for
‘contributions to the survivability of
South Florida’. Additionally, Ms.
Mallet has been published in key
industry publications such as the
Disaster Recovery Journal and the
International Association of Emergency
Managers newsletter. Laura has
moderated Emergency Management lessons
learned panels and has served as an
NFPA1600 subject matter expert for
New York University’s International
Center for Enterprise Preparedness
during
recent 2-day seminars in
Fort Lauderdale and San Francisco.
