 PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To serve as the key IT person for all Disaster Recovery activities.  Coordinate development of advance arrangements and procedures at recovery location(s) to ensure an effective response to a disaster so that critical business functions can be resumed within defined time frames (RTO’s & RPO’s).  Ensure all phases of the recovery process are addressed, including initial and emergency response and the successful return to normal operations.  Formalize, standardize and develop Disaster Recovery plans and procedures for the Data Center.   Conduct multiple exercises (e.g., tabletop, walkthrough and physical exercises) throughout the year to test and prepare for a real disaster in which the Production Data Center would need to recover.  Act as the liaison between IT and the Business Continuity team to ensure IT recovery strategies line up with Business Recovery strategies. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plan and organize recovery test plans, review meetings, create agendas, minutes and track follow up requirements.
  2. Drive the development of Disaster Recovery plans and procedures for the Data Center and provide regular status updates to management.
  3. Formalize and standardize the disaster recovery planning process, including forecasting and tracking mechanisms, across all business units, to facilitate timely accommodation of future recovery requirements and improvement opportunities
  4. Analyze environmental and equipment configurations and recommend disaster avoidance measures and improved backup capabilities and redundancies.
  5. Conduct recovery specific tabletop simulations for IT and business recovery team members.
  6. Coordinate and facilitate all Disaster Recovery test activities.  Collaborate with key business units, external business partners and key IT staff members for the purpose of planning, directing, controlling and maintaining an effective test plan and procedures.
  7. Document the results of all tests and exercises.  Identify and implement recommended enhancements.
  8. Provide 24 x 7 on call support for any emergency which may require activation of all or part of the Disaster Recovery plans.  In the event that activation is required, serve as a liaison between the Crisis Management Team and the Disaster Recovery teams.
  9. Assess the Disaster Recovery implications of proposed technological or organization changes and coordinate any revisions to existing Disaster Recovery plans or procedures necessitated by such changes.
  10. Manage electronic access to and hard copy distribution of the Disaster Recovery plans and procedures.
  11. Ensure that all personnel with specific Disaster Recovery responsibilities are adequately trained to fulfill those responsibilities and that all employees are familiar with the relevant provisions of the current Disaster Recovery plan.
  12. Serve as the key IT liaison to the Business Continuity team, ensuring that IT technologies and processes support all key continuity requirements in addition to Data Center recovery.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A minimum of two years in a Disaster Recovery role is also required. 

Excellent knowledge of IT Infrastructure, Disaster Recovery technology products and vendors is required. 

Good project management skills are required with proficiency in project management software.  Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills are required with some knowledge of Vision and PowerPoint. 

Experience in using the Strohl LDRPS online tool is desired, but not required. 

Ability to multitask is essential and must possess strong process orientation. 

Excellent people skills and the ability to be a team player are essential. 

A Minimum of 5 years experience in Data Center environment is required

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, or procedure manuals and to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and to write reports, business correspondence, or procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  

Ability to calculate and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

REASONING ABILITY  

Ability to apply principles of logic to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT   

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.   

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however on the data center floor it can be quite noisy. 

This position requires more than 80% computer use.

Job Description:

·Lead cross-functional, multi-location teams of employees and vendors in support of business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency management projects of varying size and complexity to effective resource utilization and allocation.

·         Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Apply project management techniques and develop project plans, outlining objectives, scope, and deliverables.

Job Requirements:

Successful candidates have:

·         Four year college degree in business, computer science or equivalent.

·         At least 5 years of project management experience at a Fortune 1000 company.

·         Demonstrated knowledge and experience in accordance with the professional practices for business continuity planners.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills along with significant presentation (public speaking) experience.

·         Excellent project management, organizational and interpersonal skills.

·         Proven ability to produce recommendations and proposals, and a demonstrated ability to handle effective negotiations.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Project software.

·         Must posses high degree of business acumen.

·         Ability to interface with managers and staff at all levels.

As Senior Manager of Safety, Health and Environmental (HSE), this person will lead and manage the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) function across the organization.

•           This candidate will provide vision, strategic development, management and governance of all aspects of the organization’s Safety program, including risk assessment, mitigation, compliance assurance, continuous improvement, development and implementation of best practices.  

•           This candidate will be required to negotiate time and gain commitment from business functions to ensure resources are available for plan development and maintenance. 

•           This candidate will have a strong business acumen and business support focus and understanding. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

1.         Engages senior management and other stakeholders and effectively and visibly leads a proactive Safety culture across the organization.

2.         Develops and implements systems, policies and procedures that comply with all governmental regulations including local, state and federal OSHA and EPA rules.  

3.         Builds a robust Safety Program that is scalable and can be embraced within the organization’s culture.

4.         Anticipates emerging regulations and assesses potential impacts and positions may need to adopt, in response to the pending changes.  

5.         Prepares, manages and controls annual capital and expense budgets related to Safety matters. 

6.         Develop and mentor direct reports.  Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to staff in a culturing and nurturing manner while valuing the diversity and entrepreneurial spirit of each member of the team. 

7.         Assures processes are in place to audit site compliance with applicable laws, regulations and company Safety requirements and helps drive development and implementation of appropriate and timely corrective actions.

8.         Determines, develops, tracks and communicates Safety metrics to appropriate leadership representation.  Determine gaps and improvements necessary and develops remedial actions.

9.         Develops and deploys Safety training strategy and plan covering Safety awareness and training for all employees, and evaluates effectiveness of training efforts.

10.        Represents the company on all external Safety regulatory matters, recordkeeping and filings.

11.        Works with Risk Management, Human Resources, Legal and other internal stakeholders to reduce the incidence and costs of injuries, occupational health claims, environmental excursions and other incidents.

2.         Must be adept at crafting and adjusting Program processes that best "fit" into a transitional business environment which values an entrepreneurial spirit yet has grown to a point that it increasingly recognizes the need for institutional programs such as the organization’s safety program. Organizational fitness, perceptibility and sensitivity will be of paramount importance particularly when dealing with the entrepreneurially focused segments of the business population that are not experienced with programs and processes of this nature. This person must also be able to assimilate the program into a diverse range of functional departments and be able to relate to their unique business priorities. Garnering the support of each of the affected business functions is essential to the overall success of the organization’s program.

3.         The organization’s program is a distributed work effort that will require representatives from the affected business functions to assume functional responsibility for their respective safety activities.  This will represent an added responsibility beyond their primary job responsibilities. This individual will need to use their leadership skills to ensure their staff/team uses project management and interpersonal skills as a communicator, collaborator, motivator and negotiator to achieve results through people who do not report directly to the office.

 Education and Experience

2.         At least 10 years of environmental and safety management experience including line responsibility for environmental and safety compliance.  Experience in the construction industry preferred.

3.         Demonstrated leadership attributes with a minimum of five years in a leadership capacity with proven experience in developing and implementing strategic, company-wide safety, health and environmental programs.

4.         Professional certification(s) highly desired.

5.         4 year college degree preferred.  Equivalent work experience will be considered.
