Case Study: NYC Steam Pipe Explosion
In July 2007, a steam pipe explosion near the Pfizer campus of buildings had a dramatic and profound impact on operations conducted in one of Pfizer’s buildings located near the blast.  Hear how Pfizer was impacted, what they did during the response and recovery, and the many lessons learned. With thousands of employees in the vicinity of the blast, plans were invoked for emergency response, crisis management and business continuity on Day 1 and for several days thereafter.  Key members of the Pfizer Worldwide Business Continuity Management Team will provide their own personal account and perspectives on what took place during this city-impacting incident.

 IBCT courses Discount

As a benefit of membership, ACP has negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute for Business Continuity Training (IBCT) that provides for ACP member discounts up to 40% off IBCT courses.  They are self-paced, relatively inexpensive, and provide CEU credits for those who may need them.

To try a free on-line sample, please do so by going to www.ibct.com and registering.  Once you complete your registration send an email to Michael Bittle at mbittle@ibct.com and he will register you at no charge.

The ACP Corporate BoD announces it has entered into a strategic alliance with ICOR for education and research opportunities for all ACP Members. The International Consortium for Organizational Resilience (ICOR) has agreed to offer ACP Members a 10% discount on all of their training courses and workshops which span a variety of Business Continuity related industries. This is the same discount ICOR offers to its own members for its already low priced course offerings, if ICOR increases the discount for its members the ACP discount will also increase. In addition, when an ACP Chapter hosts the training event, venue, and refreshments the discount will be increased to 20% per ACP Member. ACP and ICOR will also collaborate on research opportunities through their respective Strategic Advisory Councils.

To assist you in preparing for certification, ICOR also offers a two day DRII Qualifying Exam Review course. ICOR stands behind its quality of education and guarantees that if you take this course you will pass the DRII Qualifying Exam, if not you can retake the course free of charge. This is of significant importance to the over 1,000 ACP Members who currently do not hold a Business Continuity related certification.
