We view the New York City Metro Chapter as the “Chapter of Choice” in the contingency industry.  We will be regarded as THE place to go for resources, networking and education.

Mission and Vision:
Creating a body of knowledge encompassing, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Risk, Crisis and Emergency Management, (Public and Private Sectors representation) and allowing members to access all needed information by networking with other professionals and gaining the necessary expertise.

Our goal will be to take the NYC Metro Chapter to the next level over thenext 2 years, making it the biggest and best Chapter in ACP Corporate, by providing current and exciting topics and interactive programs, ensuring collaboration between the Board and the Members and working all together for the success and growth of the Chapter. The ACP NYC Metro Chapter will be supporting Green Initiatives and we ll substitute paper documentation with our new and enhanced web site.

    •
    • DAVID W. WHITE
    • David White is a member of the Resilient Enterprise Management (REM) team within the CERT® Program at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), a unit of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. The REM team performs applied research and development in the areas of resilience management, critical infrastructure protection, information resilience, and resilience measurement and analysis. The team has responsibility for the ongoing development and evolution of both the CERT Resilience Management Model (CERT-RMM) and the SEI Smart Grid Maturity Model (SGMM). David has served as a core member of the CERT-RMM development team since 2006. In this role, David supported the development of the model and associated products. He has led numerous projects to assist organizations with their adoption and use of the model, including the first two CERT-RMM appraisal efforts. David is an instructor for the Introduction to the CERT-RMM course and a lead appraiser for the CERT-RMM capability appraisal method. David also manages the SEI Smart Grid Maturity Model (SGMM) project. SGMM is a management tool that an electric power utility can use to evaluate, guide, and improve its smart grid transformation. Mr. White has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. David is currently based in New York City.
    • HARVEY BETAN
    • Harvey Betan is certified by both the DRII and BCI in Business Continuity Planning. This after a successful career in IT he migrated to BC management. He has published articles in DRJ magazine and on line with TechTarget and is one of their Ask the Expert responders. He has presented at DRJ, CPM conferences and other venues. Attention has been given of late to resiliency or upstream resiliency and this session begins by defining upward (supplier) and downstream (customer/client) resiliency. It continues by looking closely at the importance and impact of output or customer resiliency. We review the “stages of continuity” starting from the 1970’s, through Y2K and today. References discussed to actual cases such as Goodyear Tire, hurricanes such as Katrina and Rita, recovery sites and credentialing (CEAS).
