Pandemic Influenza
Health care professionals and experts around the world are concerned about the possibility that a current strain
of the influenza virus that is infecting birds will develop characteristics that allow it to infect humans and
cause the next pandemic.
While no one can predict the timing and severity of such an event, public and private sector organizations should
be preparing to handle the effects of a pandemic. Pandemic planning is a topic of discussion and cooperative efforts
within many of the ACP Chapters. For additional information, contact your local ACP Chapter and refer to the resources
